How to Make a Simple Bow With Wired Ribbon

Hey Y'all,

Bows, Bows, and More Bows. Making them gets a whole lot of us worked up this time of year. I put together a quick tutorial video for y'all, "5 Bows in 5 Minutes" on Facebook. Here are some details you might want to know about each bow. Check out the Video to see how to make them.

You can watch me make all 5 in 5 minutes by clicking the button below.

5 BOWS IN 5 MINUTES

The "Erin Bow"

What you need-

*3 Strips of Wired Ribbon.

I used 2.5 inch wide ribbon in 2 different colors. I cut 2 Strips at 28 inches long and 1 strip about 14 inches long.

You can also use a small piece for the center in a different color if you would like.

We also call this bow, the "awareness ribbon bow" because you start with making an awareness ribbon and then pinching the center together.

The "Fancy" Bow

What you need-

*A Roll of 2.5 inch Wired Ribbon, a zip tie, and Some Patience

This one is a little more difficult, but absolutely doable. Keep your ribbon on the roll until you are finished with your bow. This one is one long continuous piece of ribbon. There are 3 layers. The first being a 2″ loop, second, Two 6 inch loops, and the third being Three 12 inch loops. Try to keep it even as you move back and forth in an accordion like motion. Secure it in the center with the zip tie and then fluff your loops.

No worries if its a little lop-sided. You can adjust the loop sizes.

The "Raggedy"
Shredded Fabric Bow

What you need-

*A whole lot of scrap fabric in lots of different colors, Raffia, and a Zip Tie

This is the easiest of all the bows. Shred you up some scrap fabric pieces, about 12 to 14 inches long. If you use ribbon, do not use ribbon. Once you have quite a few strips start stacking them in a criss cross/ star like pattern. The more the merrier with this guy. Bunch up your raffia for the top and secure it with a zip tie. If you want to get extra fancy, add some tails by securing long strips of fabric to the center and let them fly.

The "Loopy" Bow

What you need-

*Wired Ribbon in different sizes.

I used 2.5 inch ribbon, and 1.5 inch ribbon. This bow has been around our page for a while! Take your wider ribbon and wrap it into a 14 inch loop. Do this until you have 6 complete loops. Next you'll find the center and cut a small slit on each side. Do the same with your smaller ribbon but with only 4 complete loops. Secure the two layers together with your tails and then fluff it all.

Make sure you get your center right in the slits. This keeps the bow together. Have fun with it and add lots of layers in different colors! We have a full loopy bow tutorial you can watch on our facebook page. Just click the button below to get you there!

The "Sassy" Bow

What you need-

*Base Wired Ribbon 2.5 inches, Accent Ribbon both wired and not, and twine.

I used 4 different ribbons. Base Ribbon 2.5 inch Wired Red and black buffalo check. Accent Ribbon 2.5 inch "happy holidays" wired ribbon, 1.5 inch black and white buffalo check NOT WIRED, and 1.5 inch Red and Black Buffalo Check, with Snowflakes WIRED.

For your base, cut 3- 28 inch strips. Fold them individually into 12 inch loops. Cut your accent ribbons into 12 inch strips and alternate between the different patterns. Put your widest ribbon on bottom and thinnest on top. Secure in the center with twine, add tails, and fluff your loops. IT IS SUPER SIMPLE, and we have a detailed video JUST FOR THIS BOW that you can watch on our facebook page. Just click the button below.
